- When NPCC (Nano Precipitated Calcium Carbonate) is compound into rigid PVC several quite specific effects are observed.
1) Shorter fusion/gelation time.
2) Enhance impact strength particular at low temperature.
3) Improve surface finish and gloss.
4) Elimination of plate out.
5) Elimination of surface defects, ie sharkskin which occurs under conditions of high shear gradients, such as those seen in injection moulding operations.
These observed effects are usually associated more with the use of organic processing aids and impact modifiers than with the use of only an inorganic additive. However, the fact is that they are real effects seen with NPCC and clearly performance and economic benefits.
